A Note from Mike:

Cameras change, editing tools evolve, but one of the most important aspects of this business must never change—good storytelling. My goal is to air stories with poignancy and often humor, inspirational and unique stories.  I like to call them snapshots from the human condition.

I brought my brand of storytelling to KCBS in Los Angeles and WFAA-TV in Dallas for a combined 9 years.

We changed the landscape of storytelling in L.A., ending the 5pm newscast everyday with Our Man Mike pieces.  We certainly did the same thing in Dallas.  We also helped take WFAA's morning show to number one with live reporting.  I currently work as a live reporter on San Diego's Good Morning San Diego newscast. In addition, I recently set out to do something never before done in this business- air a half hour program using only a 120 dollar pocket Flip camera.  My concept, writing, editing, and shooting, the first Open Mike, won 3 Emmy Awards.  The most recent has just been nominated for 5 Emmy Awards (see below).

"Open Mike", a half-hour program produced, shot, edited, written, and hosted entirely by myself just received five 2013 EMMY nominations - this is the first segment:
I was in Seattle recently visiting friends and KING-5 News asked if I wouldn't mind reporting for a couple days while in town. Here is a day-turn story story we put together for them:
