Hi!
I’m Mike Castellucci and I phone it in all the time…I make a living at it.
In the fifth largest tv market in the country I not only air segments on news broadcasts, I air half hour specials I shoot entirely on my iPhone!
At one point I offered colleagues, reporters and phtojournalists a workshop on how I do it. Not one person showed up!!!
I was so far ahead, so far out in front of the pack…it freaked em out.
So I took it to some people I knew wouldn’t freak out. Students.
I’m disrupting an industry as my pieces air in TV markets coast to coast. I’ve started entering my work in regular TV award competitions without mentioning that I’m shooting only with my phone, and I’m winning. From Emmys to Edward R. Murrow awards to 3 Best of Festival national awards, and a Best of the Best National award, my iPhone and I are playing on their fields. TEGNA, a group who owns 47 television stations handed me their Innovative Storytelling Award.
